Heavy Vehicle Licencing in Qld requires you to show competency in theory and practical testing.


THEORY (Learners)

This is ten written multiple choice questions based on Heavy Vehicles to be completed at a Qld Transport Department. The learning information for this is contained in “Your Keys To Driving In Qld” booklet available at Qld Trans Dept, at any news agency or downloadable from www.transport.qld.gov.au.

PRACTICAL

Practical element at Qld Transport Dept by Dept Assessors consisting of up to a 90 min drive to show competency in Pre Checks, Vehicle Operation (Gear Selection, Turning, Reversing, Braking etc) and Hazard Recognition/Decisions (Mirrors, System of Vehicle Control, Judgment etc)

We provide LR training if you have your own vehicle that meets registration and safety standards of the Qld Transport Department.

LIGHT RIGID (LR)
- TRUCK more than 4.5ton GVM but not more than 8ton GVM with or without trailer weighing 9ton GVM or less
- BUS more than 4.5ton GVM but not more than 8ton GVM with or without trailer weighing 9ton GVM or less
- TRACTOR OR SPECIALIALLY CONSTRUCTED VEHICLE more than 4.5ton GVM but not more than 8ton GVM with or without trailer weighing 9ton GVM or less

MEDIUM RIGID (MR)
- TRUCK more than 8ton GVM with not more than 2 axles with or without trailer weighing 9ton GVM or less
- BUS more than 8ton GVM with not more than 2 axles with or without trailer weighing 9ton GVM or less
- TRACTOR OR SPECIALIALLY CONSTRUCTED VEHICLE more than 8ton GVM with not more than 2 axles with or without trailer weighing 9ton GVM or less

HEAVY RIGID (HR)
- TRUCK more than 8ton GVM with more than 2 axles (no axle limit) with or without trailer weighing 9ton GVM or less
- BUS more than 8ton GVM with more than 2 axles (no axle limit) with or without trailer weighing 9ton GVM or less
- TRACTOR OR SPECIALIALLY CONSTRUCTED VEHICLE more than 8ton GVM with more than 2 axles (no axle limit) with or without trailer weighing 9ton GVM or less
